Introduction to the Statistical Physics of Polymers

Outline:

We start out with a very brief overview of some applications and usage of  polymers. The overview is followed by a very basic introduction into polymer chemistry and physics. Beginning with the creation of polymer chains we look at the many variations of polymers from linear to branched chains. From the structure we move to the internal properties and then to polymer networks. In this short course we will use to work horses: PE and BPA-PC which will be introduced here.

After this we dwell on the thermodynamic properties of polymer systems and some basic results on the observables like the structure factor. Finally we take a look at the morphology of polymer systems.
